The Basic RiderCourse is aimed from the novice rider to the experienced rider. During the riding course students learn how to operate a motorcycle safety. Our emphasis in on safety, special skills, and the mental attitude necessary for dealing with traffic and everyday situations. Students start with straight-line riding, turning, and stopping. You will work your way up to shifting, emergency braking, swerving, and cornering.
The Basic Rider Course will give you the basic skills needed to build upon for safe riding and upon successful completion of the course students will receive a DMV DL-389 certificate. Successful completion of the course may waive the riding skills test at the California DMV.
Course Length
The course is a total of 15 hours. Students have 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding in a controlled safe environment. Unlike other sites that hold a 3 day courses, our site holds the course over 2 days.
Number of students in the course
A maxim of 12 students per range are allowed with 2 RiderCoaches.
We Provide
In the classroom
we provide students with a workbook and on the range we provide the motorcycles / scooters and helmets.
Students Provide
Students must provide the proper riding gear. This MUST consist of: over the ankle sturdy foot wear, pair of sturdy jeans, long sleeve shirt or jacket, sturdy full fingered gloves, and eye protection. Students must also have 1 of 3 Documentation of Eligibility: current drivers license, current permit, or completion of Drivers Ed Certificate.
Can I use my own motorcycle or helmet?
Yes, student can use their own bikes and helmets if they met the following:
Motorcycle: MUST be under 500cc, have proof of current insurance, be able to prove ownership, and be street legal. (If you want to use you own motorcycle please let the office staff know at the time of sign up.)
Helmets: MUST be D.O.T approved
